Surpasses Expectations – Windows 7 Antivirus Software Review

I can be reading on the Internet, or even be off-line, and all of a sudden a distracting Norton dialog box will pop up to inform me that Norton is performing system scans in the background. The only problem is that these scans take up so much memory that my browser or open program will lock up and crash, so I usually have to reboot, and by then, I lost my train of thought on what I was doing on the computer to begin with, and I find it very annoying! I renew Norton Internet Security every year and it's much cheaper to buy the CD on sale than to renew on-line from Symantec, plus you have the CD in the event you need it. The good is that this Norton version seems to do a good job keeping viruses away but the bad part is that it seems to use up a lot of ram memory so it is a bit taxing on the system. Sometimes when I am using my computer, I notice that it is going a bit slow, and then I discover that this Norton program is in the middle of some big maintenance cycle, again ugh! It doesn't seem to have too much of an impact on computer resources, and like a good little snitch, it alerts you via pop-up when another program is using significant resources. Tonight, for the first time since I installed the software (3 days ago), my computer seemed to hang up while shutting down. This is why I prefer Macs; you don't have all this aggravation. I like Norton especially since they improved it. It works every day in the background. It comes with a disc of useful utilities.

Quality And Honest – Cleanup Antivirus Software Critique

When I manually disable the NIS software (just for comparison), my system flies and is back to normal! Obviously, the culprit is Norton Internet Security. Utilities is mainly money for old rope - most of its tools are actually links to Windows own built-in tools. Of the rest, the free CCleaner does a brilliant job of cleaning the registry and removing all traces of various history trails (internet, MRU lists and so on). I haven't had a single instance of virus attack! This Norton product works exactly as described and gives me confidence to use the internet freely. Once I figured that out things went smoothly. Excellent price at almost half the price, and I used the difference to get a power cord for my laptop! I love the fact that, every time I go to a website it tells me if it's safe or not. It seems to be working just fine. People not hindered by lack of bandwidth shouldn't have any problems downloading the latest virus definitions and program updates. Once installed, the interface is very simple to use and, unlike McAfee, you can easily see the date the latest virus definitions were uploaded.

Best Product For A Great Price – Antivirus Vista 2010 Software Review

Have been using Norton for years and it works quite well and is a lot cheaper from Amazon than it is direct from Norton. Seems strange that to upgrade a program on your computer is more expensive than purchasing it new with packaging and CD but that's the case. It is hard for me to try another brand. We have used Norton Internet Security for all our computers for a number of years. All I had to do was enter the key that came with the disc. When everything checked out he then did the same for my other computer and got it working properly. The install was very easy, except for the 25 character code that had to be entered. I installed this on two computers, my desktop running XP Pro, and a laptop running Vista. My computer was hacked. I don't know how he got through the fire wall on my router and then the Norton firewall but he did.

I Love It – Antivirus Scan Software Critique

The Network section covers the firewall, network and email intrusion. The Web section covers safe web browsing, including Identity Safe, which allows you to store passwords/logins for websites. I have been using Norton Internet Security for at least three years. It has always worked very well for me.

Very Unhappy With This – Best Antivirus Software Critique

After running the first Deep Scan, it found and fixed numerous problems. It even found a virus that had disabled my DVD/CD drive and corrected it. Highly recommended! Norton provides two other products, "360" and "Norton utilities". I have been using Norton for several years and have been virus free. I have used Norton for years and works well.

Way Too Expensive – Antivirus 7 Removal Software Critique

Secondly, I don't like the default settings on this software. I like software that I can turn on when I need it, not the other way around. Once you get this software it will let you install on 3 different computers. Haven't tested 64bit version, but I'm pretty sure it should work the same. I especially like the pop-up CPU monitor that tells you what app is consuming CPU usage. Only item to complain about is small, the PC Check Up program suggests PC sleep mode, but then scheduled scans won't run when PC is asleep. However, my experience on my Win XP desktop has been like a trip to hell. The product installed fine and then prompted me to click the "restart" button. I love the fact that, every time I go to a website it tells me if it's safe or not. It seems to be working just fine. It runs silently with no management effort needed by you. It catches all kinds of random things floating around on the internets.
