So you've started to sell on eBay. Great! You have your own eBay account set up. You've sold the items that you can around the house. You've cleared out the clutter and run out of things to sell. Now what should you do?

So you’ve started to sell on eBay. Great! You have your own eBay account set up. You’ve sold the items that you can around the house. You’ve cleared out the clutter and run out of things to sell. Now what should you do?

The bottom line is that your success on eBay is directly related to the products you have to sell. If you don’t have any products to sell, then you don’t have an eBay business. How would you like a never-ending supply of products?

If so, the answer is simple – become an eBay Trading Assistant. What is this, you ask? Well in a nutshell, a Trading Assistant is someone who helps other people get their items sold on eBay. So if you have an Aunt Gertrude who wants her old porcelain figurines sold on eBay, she can go to you to get them sold. You take the pictures, you write the titles and descriptions, You do everything to “assist” your Aunt Gertrude to sell.

Now since your Aunt Gertrude is so dear to you, you might do this for free. For other people in your community, you’d likely charge them a commission for your time and energy. Or, you could buy their products and resell them yourself.

It’s really that simple to have an unlimited supply of products. Everyone you can think of has something extra cluttering up their house. Why not help them get rid of it (and help yourself in the process)? eBay estimates that most people have over $1000 worth of items around the house that are being unused. You can easily see that tapping into this for just a few people will keep you busy for weeks to come.

Let’s say you do want to be a Trading Assistant. Well, there are two ways to do it. The first way is the “official way.” You do this by registering that you want to be a Trading Assistant on eBay. This allows you to be listed in the eBay Trading Assistant directory. However, before you can join the directory, you need to meet a few requirements. You first must have a feedback score of 100, and 98% of your feedback must be positive. Also, you need to have sold at least 10 items in the previous 3 months. Your eBay account must also be in good standing. For more information on the program, you can go to www.tradingassistant.com

Let’s say you don’t meet all of these requirements. Maybe your feedback score is only 10, but don’t let that stop you. You can still be a trading assistant “unofficially.” eBay isn’t going to stop you from telling your friends and family that you can sell their stuff for them on eBay. The only difference in being “official” and “unofficial” is that you get to use the eBay Trading Assistant logo and you get listed in the Trading Assistant directory. Other than that, it’s up to you to find the people.

Here are some suggestions how you can promote yourself as a Trading Assistant. One key ingredient is to get the word out. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Ask if they have anything to sell on eBay. The more people that know you are the guy (or gal) to go to for help for selling on eBay, then the more successful you’ll be. Another idea is to post flyers around town saying that you’ll sell their stuff on eBay. Consider putting a classified ad in the paper as well.

There really is no end of products you can sell on eBay. With a little ingenuity, you can be the “go-to” person that takes care of everything eBay related.

After you’ve gained some experience selling on eBay, you need to ask yourself what product category you want to focus on. Since you can buy and sell almost anything on eBay, there are hundreds of thousands of options to choose from.

Back just a few short years ago, I was getting started. I didn’t know what I wanted to sell. How did I decide? Well, let me tell you a bit about me. I’m a gadget geek. I know what electronics are going to come out before they do. I watch the gadget blogs. I keep tabs on what Apple is doing, and know when they are going to upgrade their iPhones. It’s a hobby of mine.

It’s an easy step to go from my gadget hobby to finding gadgets to sell on eBay. In fact, some of the first items I sold on eBay were electronics related. I sold a Playstation 2, an old Gameboy, and some computer games. After running out of gadgets to sell, I found an electronics wholesaler and started selling webcams and other computer accessories. Today, we still sell the same types of items.

You need to ask yourself what you like. Selling what you like will make your research and product buying a whole lot easier. Keep in mind that whatever product category you choose to enter, you will be spending a lot of time researching and figuring out which products to sell. If you sell the types of products that you like, then the “work” of researching and talking to suppliers will be easier. And, as an additional bonus, if you sell products that you like, then you can take one for yourself.

Now, if you’re just getting started on eBay, you need to realize that nothing is fixed in stone. If you have no idea what you like or what you could sell on eBay, the main thing to do is get started. Choose a category that you think you can develop. You can always change later if you don’t know for sure. The main goal is to get moving forward.

Think about an airplane taking off from an airport. Does it always take off in the exact direction that it will end up? No. Most planes take off not pointed in the direction they eventually want to go, but when they are in the air, the pilot can make course adjustments. This applies to your business as well. Don’t worry if you take off in a different direction than you want to go. The main point when you’re a beginner is to get off the ground, and you do this by selling whatever you can at first. Once you’re in the air, then you can change the direction you’re going.

The most important thing you can do as a beginner is to just get going. If you choose to travel in too many directions at once, you’ll never get anywhere. Sell stuff around your house. Then once you’ve run out of stuff to sell, think about what you’d like to sell. Just choose something (maybe based on your hobbies) so you have a direction to move in.

Finding products or a niche with good profit margins might seem like the hardest thing to figure out when selling on eBay.

Finding products or a niche with good profit margins might seem like the hardest thing to figure out when selling on eBay. Maybe you’ve been frustrated when you bought a list of ‘authentic wholesalers and drop shippers’ and found that the items on the list sell on eBay for less than the ‘wholesale price.’

Now it’s obvious that it’s not the best business model to sell stuff for less than you pay for it. The only exception is that you have a strategy to have a ‘loss leader’ or overall strategy to make up for the losses in the front end. That’s an advanced strategy, so don’t worry about it if you’re just getting started selling on eBay. As a beginner, you should always sell items for more than what you buy them.

Also, I don’t want you to get stuck in the ‘dropshipping’ trap. I’ve wasted hours and hours literally going through every single product in a dropshipping company’s catalog only to find out that none of them are profitable to sell on eBay.

The real way to make money on eBay is to analyze what the big sellers are doing. How are they profitably moving inventory? You’ll soon discover that selling eBay is very different than selling on most sites. Yes, people are looking for a great deal, but there’s more you need to consider.

Let’s say you went on eBay right now and you were looking for a specific item. You’d probably find the most affordable item, with one exception. You don’t want to pay the bare-bones minimum because “you’ll get what you pay for.”

Some people think that if they are the cheapest price on eBay, that will guarantee them maximum sales. While that might be true in the short-term, chances are that their profit margins will be so small that they won’t be in business for long. Remember that you’re in business to provide an experience for your customer. This includes a great product at a good price. Also, it means that you make a reasonable profit.

So how do you enter a competitive market and earn peoples business when it seems that everyone just wants the lowest price?

There are various ways to do this. Because it’s a big step for people to buy from someone they’ve never seen, you need to stand out from the crowd. To get your customer to choose you over your competitor, you need to get their attention. Make sure that you have a great gallery picture to draw your customer away from the price tag. Make sure that your listing has the most relevant keywords in the title. Your goal is to get people to click on your listing, and then from there, you have a better chance of selling to your customer.

Once your customer makes the jump to your listing, they’re going to decide whether they can trust you. Your feedback rating factors in here, but in addition to that is also the professionalism of your listing. You need to show that you’re a quality seller that will provide the best customer experience.

How do you look professional? Have a good looking listing template, clearly defined policies, professional pictures of your item, and a description that you’ve taken the time to create yourself – not just copied from the manufacturer’s website.

Think of the times you’ve gone looking for an item and wondering if the seller was legitimate and if you could trust them with your money. You don’t want other buyers doing the same thing once they land on your listing or eBay store. Some people are just skeptics and you can’t change their mind, but many people are savvy buyers who want to do business with someone they can trust.

What people see is what they are going to get. If you can set yourself apart from the other “small time” sellers and model the successful ones, you’ll have a competitive edge to getting started selling on eBay.

Let’s say you could have an entire business in a box. What if someone gave you every tool you needed, all the software, the website, the merchant account, and most importantly, millions of customers ready to buy what you sell. Would you be interested? How much would you pay for that “instant” business. Hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars?

The fact is that everything I just said that seem so unrealistic is a reality right now on one website. That website is eBay. eBay is the fastest and easiest way to have a web presence today. You can start making money online before the week is up. You can have a complete business structure and start selling products online in under 30 minutes.

Still not convinced? Let me show you how big eBay really is. In 2008 alone, over $60 billion dollars was sold on eBay. $2000 sells every second. Plus there are over 90 million active members. That’s why eBay is called the world’s largest marketplace. Do you think that maybe there are some customers that would want what you sell?

But how can you be a successful seller on eBay? Of the thousands of people that have taken advantage of eBay… only a few have great success. You can hear the stories of internet or eBay millionaires, but it’s only a small percentage of the millions who have tried.

Why? Well it’s because that the average person who goes on eBay thinks that eBay will instantly make them a millionaire. Sorry to tell you, but nobody becomes a millionaire overnight. Building a business requires learning certain skills. You need to know how to provide a great product or service for your customer. The sellers who are making it big online are those who are focused on the customer first, not on making a quick buck.

But don’t think to yourself that the people that are making money on eBay are any different than you, or somehow they’re entitled to it and you’re not. Yes there are things you will need to learn, but remember everyone starts at the beginning and nobody is born an Olympic athlete.

The best part about eBay is the minimum amount of risk you need to take to get started. Think of all the brick and mortar businesses that spent thousands of dollars in startup capital only to go bankrupt in a few years. You don’t need to rent office or warehouse space, and you don’t need to start hiring dozens of employees.

Other than a computer, an internet connection and a digital camera, there isn’t much needed to get started selling on eBay. Of course with time you will need to develop a line of inventory to sell, but if you learn the right way, you can easily cover your inventory costs and keep cash flow moving through your eBay business.

The reason why eBay is such a great opportunity today is because business models are changing. The barriers to start selling online are lower than they’ve ever been. Why wouldn’t you want to start being your own boss? Thousands of people have taken the leap to make money online already, make sure you don’t get left behind.

With everything literally at your fingertips, there’s no excuse. Why don’t you start your own eBay business today? Get away from the skeptics (who never make any money online anyways) and start learning from those who are already successful.

So you’re starting your eBay business? That’s awesome. And as I’ve said many times before, I think that eBay is the fastest and easiest way to get started selling online. No other website can even touch the $60 billion marketplace that is eBay.

However, what many beginners forget is that in order to be successful online, you can’t be a lone ranger. Sure you can run a successful eBay business from your home, but if you’re in business, you’ll have to connect with other businesses. To get the maximum profits, it’s likely that you’ll have to deal with other big businesses that aren’t home based.

The best way to get what you want in life is to help other people get what they want. From the moment you start your business, you need to remember that you are only in business as long as you’re helping your customers. What’s the quickest way to see if you’re helping enough people? Check how much money you have in your bank account. If your bank balance is low, then you’re not helping many people. If you want to grow your bank balance, you need to help more people.

So what’s the best way to help and connect with people? Get out there. Talk to local store owners. Go to business luncheons in your community. Carry your business cards around with you everywhere. Let everyone know that you sell on eBay, not just friends and family.

The more people you connect with in your community, the more opportunities you’ll have to help them (and for them to help you too!). Start to think about who you could help. Are there small businesses that need to sell their excess inventory? Are there businesses that want to start selling online? What about individuals who want to clear out their attic or sell some antiques? When you start connecting with other people, you’ll see opportunities all around you.

So what’s the bottom line? The more connections you have, the more people you help. The more people you help, the more successful you’ll become.

Back when we were getting started on eBay, there's one main thing that contributed to our early success.

Back when we were getting started on eBay, there’s one main thing that contributed to our early success.

It happened in our first year of “business.” This means that although we were starting to learn how to sell, and we had spent lots of money and time learning, we weren’t actually selling yet.

(Isn’t it funny how determined you can be to get started at something, and how you can learn everything about a subject… but it doesn’t matter until you actually get started with it?)

We were learning from some top experts everything we could ever want about starting an eBay business, but we never took action to get started. We kept procrastinating and learning more and more without actually doing what was taught.

That’s such a big barrier today with many people looking to get started making money online. Learning about the topic and hearing other people’s success stories gives you the feeling that you’re actually moving forward and making progress towards your ultimate goal, even though you haven’t put in the work necessary to achieve that goal.

Let me tell you how we went from just learning to a profitable $3,000 a month eBay business in less than 60 days.

What was it? Well, our mentors created a contest. They said that the first person who could sell $1,000 in one month would win a cash prize.

Please don’t think that entering a contest automatically guarantees your success. It’s much more than that. Even for us, it wasn’t just about winning the prize or what we would do with the prize money. At the fundamental level, it was a goal with a tangible outcome. It was a goal we really believed in and we were determined to hit.

So we pushed for the contest. We pulled all the strings we could to start selling. We did more things that month than the previous six months combined. Long story short, we didn’t even win the contest, but it set us up for something bigger than we could imagine.

We accomplished a greater goal than we thought possible. We were only a few bucks short of $1,000 that first month, and the following month we sold $3,000 and were actually turning a profit. We literally built an entire eBay business and money making system in less than 60 days.

So what does this mean for someone just learning how to sell?

Well, if you’ve been struggling to get an eBay business going, there’s one thing you need to do. Yes, you need to keep researching and learning, but the main thing you need to do is commit. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you truly commit. When you believe that starting an eBay business will change your life and provide you with a passive income in spite of the present economy, nothing will stop you.

It’s not going to happen in an instant. It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. You need to find the proper step by step training by someone who has been there and laid the groundwork for you, and you need to follow them to the letter.

Always remember that success leaves a trail. If you follow in the footprints of someone who is making money online, you can be a success as well.

eBay is a great place to start if you want to earn money online. It is a auction website that helps users sell their items and for buyers to find items they want. Extremely popular, eBay will help expose your items to many interested buyers daily. If you put a little thought and planning into your auction, you might make money easily. The steps listed will help you get going.

Step 1 is to find something to sell.

Cleaning and prepping your item for sale is the second step.

The third step is to photograph your item.

Setting your auction up on eBay is the fourth step.

The first step is to figure out what you want to sell. Normally, people can look around their home and find a few things they don’t want anymore. As long as the items are in good condition, are not broken, or are not really filthy, they are probably fine to sell. Remember that even if it seems like junk to you, someone might want it.

Cleaning and prepping your item for sale is the second step. Even if your item seems to be in good, clean condition, it can probably use some cleaning. When you clean your items, ensure that you use methods that will not damage them or be harmful to you. If items are properly cleaned and prepped before you put them on eBay, then they will have a better chance of fetching a higher price.

Step 3 is to take several good pictures of your item. The difference in sale price between an auction with good pictures and one with bad can vary dramatically. You don’t have to be a professional photographer or have fancy equipment, but you should make an effort. Take a picture in an area that is as light as possible, preferably with natural sunlight. Take several shots, capturing the item fully, including any small details. The personal looking at the auction should feel as though they are handling the item and look in detail at it when looking at your pictures.

Setting up your auction on eBay is the fourth step. If your item is clean and you have pictures, then you are ready to sell. Using eBay’s selling tools will help ensure your auction looks nice and you have chosen the right selling price.

These steps are a great summary and starting point for those wanting to earn cash online using eBay. Think through each step and use them as a guideline for your auctions. This might help you make some quick cash from things that you don’t want or seem like junk to you.

Maybe you’ve seen the advertisements on TV that show people learning how to make money on eBay. Yet behind the advertisements, learning to sell on eBay is not a get rich quick scheme. Yes, eBay is the easiest way to make money online, but it’s going to take some hard work. Yet even the hardest you’ll work on eBay won’t be as hard as you’d have to work with a regular full time job. Yet while you’re learning how to sell on eBay, I recommend you don’t quit your day job just yet. That’s because it will take some time before your eBay business is making enough money to cover your household expenses.

If you’re looking to make a few hundred dollars or a few thousand dollars a month, it can be done. The great thing about eBay is that the more you put into it, the more you’ll get in return. Learning to sell on eBay can be done in a few different ways. You could buy books or courses that teach you the basics on how to make money on eBay or you could try to learn on your own. Everyone is different, but I think the fastest way is to find a mentor or a step-by-step blueprint to follow. That’s the way I got started.

One of the first things you’ll learn when you’re getting started on eBay is to make sure that you choose the right products to sell. Your eBay business is based on your products, and you should eventually figure out which products sell the best. However, if you’re just getting started and making your first listings, you should just look around the house for items to sell. By getting rid of the clutter around your house, you can gain experience and build your customer service ratings.

How do you research what is selling on eBay? First search eBay for the exact kind of product you have in mind. Are there a lot of people buying this type of product? Are there many auctions up with no bids on any of them? Is the product in high demand? By asking yourself these questions, you’ll have a better idea of what you should sell. You’ll also be a few steps closer to knowing how to sell on eBay properly.

When you’ve found a product you want to sell, make sure that your auctions have a bit of an edge over other sellers. For example, if you have the same product as 5 other sellers, what would make a buyer purchase from you? On eBay, many buyers are looking for a deal on the price. If you can price competitively lower, then you’ll probably win. However, don’t forget about your eBay fees. Leave yourself some profit margins and you’ll be in business.

Most beginners take a few weeks or months to really figure out how to sell on eBay, but don’t get discouraged. You can learn how to do it too, and shorten the learning time significantly if you have a plan to follow and a mentor who will help you. Before you know it, you’ll be making money on eBay. You’ll be the next eBay success story.

The power seller are people who have recognized the money making potential of eBay and brought it to a whole new level. But there are others who think of eBay as a place where they can change some of their old junk into cash, gaining some money from what otherwise might have ended up taking a trip to the dump.

The power seller are people who have recognized the money making potential of eBay and brought it to a whole new level. But there are others who think of eBay as a place where they can change some of their old junk into cash, gaining some money from what otherwise might have ended up taking a trip to the dump.

Power sellers may employ age old methods such as beachcombing in order to gain a large stockpile of inventory that they can then turn around and sell at the world’s largest auction at a handsome profit.Power sellers may also offer to sell other people’s goods on the eBay market place for a percentage of the profit or an up front fee. Regardless of their method, power sellers often find themselves making quite a bit of money simply by using the potential of the site to its fullest.

There are over 700,000 individuals who make this their full time job, with another million supplementing their income through more casual eBay sales. These professionals have learned the ins and outs of the eBay system, and most understand the best ways to sell products for top dollar. It is certainly no joke or figment of the imagination the existence.

The fact is, eBay is so huge, with over 1.4 billion items listed in 2005 and three million auctions closing every day, that it could stand a lot more competition before the professional selling business became cut throat. This should not discourage any new entrepreneur from taking the same steps themselves.

A lot of resources to assist a prospective eBay power seller in starting up their new venture is avaiable. Many books have been written already about successfully and strategically creating auctions, including where to list certain items, what is hot, what is not, and how to go about finding buyers.

EBay operates through feedback, and this feedback is essential both for buyers and sellers in order to retain and evaluate the legitimacy of the business or the offer. Unlike other bid sites, however, eBay also offers a regulated feedback system, in order that professionals do not take a hit to their bottom line because some disgruntled buyer ended up being unhappy with the final price they paid, or they felt that the seller was too pushy when it came to asking for payment. So keep your clients happy

An eBay power seller has hit upon a fun way to make some extra cash or even to earn a good full time income, without having to go out and invest in advertisements or finding a clientele. EBay brings clients from around the world to your product, and it is just a matter of getting the word to them that you have something that they will need.
