Instead, Symantec prefers to try to gouge its customers. For this software which is currently selling for $37.99 on Amazon, Symantec charges $59.99 for renewal. Runs so much lighter and finds more threats. Most days I forget I even installed it because it’s effect on performance is so minimal. It’s easy to install and use, doesn’t bloat my system, and most importantly, doesn’t slow down my other programs and processes. I highly recommend it!

It works every day in the background. It comes with a disc of useful utilities. My 3 year old HP Slimline is running pretty well, even with Vista installed. My Alienware M11X and Gateway NV59 are both running Windows 7 and both are unphased by Norton’s Presence.

It was automatic, and it was easy. It was always in the background doing its thing: protecting me from probing websites, blocking holes in the programming I just installed, and making sure I don’t do anything obviously stupid. I ran some free antivirus and firewall products on a few other computers at home, and Norton performed so much better in comparison. I can’t say enough good things. NIS continues the track record of excellence established by NIS 2010. I really like the way it blocks potentially harmful and phishing sites (we all do foolish stuff and click on bad stuff on occasion). I have to run it manually from the NIS screen and it will check, download and then fail to complete when processing updates. Clicking on the link they provide shows an estimated time of up to 11 hours to download. I think the interface is clean, attractive and easy to use. Performance seems to be greatly improved over their offerings of years past. With all these performance activities going on, there are no compromises in the performance of the pc. It is a great improvement in comparison to prior NIS products which I have used (2009 and 2010).

The program provides many tools that enable the user to insure the integrity of the computer and the network. Most importantly it does not slow now the performance of your computer.

I also like the 3 PC capabilities. This is the second edition of Norton Security Suite that I have purchased from Amazon.

I’ve never seen a problem on my computers. It works perfect and silent; you never need to worry if I have to do something.

Malicious sites are being constantly being found, identified, through a user network associated with Symantec. This is a non-intrusive identification process.

Norton IS installed easy and runs very nice in the background without hogging the CPU. I had Kaspersky cleaned it up effortlessly. Norton Internet Security is a great product – it doesn’t bog down any of my computers like some of the competitors’ products. It seems to catch the spyware and occasional viruses I’ve come across in my emails. So I decided to give it a try. I work on computers and this is the software I recommend to people.

I order it online, the shipping is free, and I get a real box and disk to physically load into my PC’s. What’s to not like? But this is a capitalist society, based on greed rather than goodwill, so we have to live with it (and that’s not to say Communism or feudalism is any better, but that’s another story). Norton has a subscription renewal link in the software. I’m sure it grabs some resources, but in today’s era of high-powered personal computers, it’s not a problem. I’m glad I bought it.

The Norton Internet Security is in my opinion the best on the market today and for the price that Amazon has it for is awesome. I ordered it and in two days I received it and installed it on my computer. Other virus scans did not detect that virus. All of the computers are running much faster and cleaner now. I have been using Norton Internet Security for at least three years. It has always worked very well for me. Most times, issues have been due to non-removal of other/earlier versions of Norton software. The recent improvements in installation are continuing to be great. I did not have Norton Internet Security installed on my laptop, only what was offered through Yahoo. When I joined Facebook there was nothing but trouble from the start.

We have used Norton internet protection for several years. My husband is a computer programmer and this is the system they use at his work.

I bought it from Amazon for half what Norton wants and considerably less than even Walmart. car repair quotes.

My only real complaint is not with the software itself, but rather the renewal process. To their benefit, Norton is providing you with a yearlong license to the service. Since I have relied on Norton products for over 20 years, I have kept up a yearly subscription with their Anti-Virus programming. This particular version I have used for several years with no problems or invasions into my system. It runs like 2010 Norton but I did run into one problem took me some time to find out where to add the registration number to activate it. I am pleased with this product because I feel a lot safer in using my computer without fear of unwanted hackers invading it.

The product has some features I did not expect, like a map of where particular viruses are predominate in certain parts of the globe. I was out of the country when my last subscription expired. When NIS was released, I was able to upgrade to it for the last few months of my NIS2010 subscription. It’s nice that Norton will allow you to do that so you have the most current and secure version of Norton. I received my purchase fairly quickly. My problem started when I attempted to install my purchase and I needed to enter the product ID number.

I would highly recommend it to anyone who is concerned about keeping their computer safe and secure. Since I’ve had the Norton Products installed on my PC peace of mind is the name of the game, since I know my system is protected at all times. Once set up almost no interaction is required. Best of all though, Norton runs quietly in the background using very little in the way of my computers resources. Whatever you do, do not install McAfee, at least not this year’s version. I usually find the best price here (about half of what Norton/Symantec charges for a renewal!), plus it’s nice to have a physical disc to use when installing NIS to 3 PCs.

It also identifies most of the secure websites (Amazon, credit card, bank websites, Hotmail, Gmail) as safe websites. Norton has the option to use their password manager, but just like last version, the password manager is not so secure.

I have been using Norton for several years and have been virus free. I have used Norton for years and works well.

I highly recommend trying this product especially if you have an older PC with less horsepower. Fast Home Scanner.

I’ve had a lot of good luck with it! After using Norton’s Internet Security for the last 3 months, I am very satisfied. We have used Norton internet protection for several years. My husband is a computer programmer and this is the system they use at his work.

It’s really disappointing because I had great results with Norton last year. I upgraded from Norton’s 2010 version to the version.

Norton even has a special Facebook App so you can be certain that you will not pick up one of those nasty viral things. I give this product 5 stars.

Which is a true statement, but I reported the identified viruses and malware to Symantec. I know the software makers want you to use only their software, but the new viruses and malware are getting more complicated and you need to step up the game to catch them, even left over roots seem to sprout like weeds in a garden. Product works great and since we have more than 1 computer, the “up to 3 PC’s” version works best. Does an excellent job and would not operate a computer without it or some reliable protection.

Each of these items are unacceptable. Last year I began using Norton 360 V4. After that it wouldn’t do anything except update itself. I could run the activation again, and could see on their website that I was registered, but it still said it was expired. It’s an easy program to work with and install. Catches most security problems and fixes them.

Intercepts your email connections (spam, virus and malware) I have used Norton for Internet security for four years. It seems to work OK and would have gotten 4 stars had Norton not consistently sought to fleece me for $20 more for simply renewing with them based on their notification to me via my PC. The virus signature and upgrades are downloaded in small size files in the background. So you do not feel it running in the background even in some older computers. The purpose of this review is to warn everyone not to leave your computer on when you leave it if you have activated the Norton LOGIN feature. This Norton product works as advertised. User Interface Norton Internet Security is, in sum, an easy-to-use program with excellent detection rates for viruses and other malware. Plus, it has a low memory and CPU footprint. The best buys, in my view, are Norton Internet Security 3-User license, CCleaner (it’s free!), Diskeeper and for backup of files onto a NAS, Memeo Backup Professional. I use Acronis True Image for image backups, but I find it unreliable (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t).

I have told my family to get Norton on their computer too. As an avid computer and internet user, with over three different computers in my household, I really took the time to test many of the major security services out there and NIS definitely stands alone on top in my opinion.

So I simply disable it (simplest way is to right click on the upper portion of the toolbar and uncheck the Norton option). Other than that, NIS appears to run well in the background with little impact on the speed of either machine I use.

It is an easy program to manage and the settings are simple. It also tells me exactly the things I told it to do, such as schedules for scanning etc.

Why pay when there are free options? Norton performed better on removing and preventing threats. As far as I can tell, NIS has blocked every virus exploit attempt- I have never had any issues. Also, I think the 3 user package is a great idea for the money expended.

My laptop became so infected that it crashed. I had to have my computer guy fix it, which took some doing he said. Even while it is scanning in the back ground, I still have not had any slowdown issues with my computer. Just as a side note, it was cheaper going to Amazon and purchasing the 1 user, 3 PC disc, than it was going to the Norton web site and renewing online. I had Norton when I had Comcast and it really worked well so after going to another company, I wanted Norton. I left a feedback on this when I received it.

My only real complaint is not with the software itself, but rather the renewal process. To their benefit, Norton is providing you with a yearlong license to the service.

I had the 2010 NIS and just upgraded to the new version, it’s great. Used Bandsaw Blade Welder.

I shared it with a friend, and we both love how it seems to run smoothly and catches everything. I had some problems installing and it took me more than one try! Since I already had Norton I had to use the Norton removal tool. During installation, you may notice wireless connection disconnecting a couple of times, annoying, but doesn’t affect anything. There has been slight improvement in performance this year.

I don’t know why more companies don’t do this, it’s so much better to the customer if they can see where they are in line when holding. The rep was able to assist me quickly and freed up the expired license so I could reinstall the product.

I needed the mac Norton internet antivirus and they did not let me cancel the order after buying the item. Sell Guitars.

I am an internet junkie but have only average computer savvy. Over the years, I have extensively researched and tried many free AV software programs. I still get a definite short stall when opening documents or some web pages when using the product. Features seem up to date. I know there are prejudice techs in IT shops. Take UF’s, for example.

For my Windows 7 Ultimate and Home machines, I use NIS. We have Core i7 and Core i3 processors with 8GB RAM running it, so I cannot make a resource comparison with NIS 2009.

I have been using Norton for several years and have been virus free. I have used Norton for years and works well. The number was wrong and I could not install the Norton Internet Security. I am very unhappy with the seller, MicroIdea Inc. Otherwise, I am very happy with the product itself. All I had to do was follow the step by step instructions and register the product.

It’s an easy program to work with and install. Catches most security problems and fixes them.

I have been using McAfee Internet Security on all of my PCs for several years. It was so annoying that I even chose to forfeit the remaining months on my McAfee subscription and uninstalled it.

NIS took me less than 60 seconds to install on my dual core laptop, setup was a breeze. The UI is one of the best I’ve seen in a security suite. It also identifies most of the secure websites (Amazon, credit card, bank websites, Hotmail, Gmail) as safe websites. Norton has the option to use their password manager, but just like last version, the password manager is not so secure.

I have upgraded my Norton Internet Security to the version and extended the subscription for another year. Do your homework before purchasing a firewall/antivirus system, as the speed and security of your computer is at stake. I have used both Internet Security 2010 and have been very satisfied with this product. For more information, I would recommend reading the latest review in PC Magazine and Consumer Reports. I received my purchase fairly quickly. My problem started when I attempted to install my purchase and I needed to enter the product ID number.

It has saved me from downloading software I thought was save because I knew so many people that used it, for example: certain person-to-person music downloading software. OTTOMAN FOLD OUT BED.

There is virtually no noticeable slow down (I have a gateway NV79 w/ an Icore5 processor, 4GB of DDR3, and windows 7). When my laptop is idle, the antivirus starts running diagnostics since resources are freed up – not when I’m actually trying to get some work or leisure done.

I renew Norton Internet Security every year and it’s much cheaper to buy the CD on sale than to renew on-line from Symantec, plus you have the CD in the event you need it. Upon running it, it will identify those programs on your computer that might be suspect to further review about being safe. There is a newer improved safe web, keeping scams from harming you or your computer. Very secure. All in all, a great product!

Much of the time I had to either keep refreshing the screen or waiting for a long time for the information to be filled in. Conversely, the Norton Internet Security program does it immediately. Well my performance is now noticeably slower but still within reason. After a day or 2 my CPU settled back down to about 1% on idle and only an additional 10% of my memory. Symantec product support has not been helpful. Uninstalling the program and putting 2010 back on completely solved the problem on the Win 7 ultimate system.

The features have been described in other reviews. I purchased NIS from Amazon rather than “renewing” my subscription from last year’s version, because it saves quite a bit of money. I am not just plugging the product I am an actual user. I also use Norton 360 on two of my other computers and have to say that Norton is the only product I have not had any negative issues with. I would recommend to anyone. I think that Norton is the best internet security program on the market at the moment. Norton even has a special Facebook App so you can be certain that you will not pick up one of those nasty viral things. I give this product 5 stars. You can type your keywords into it and it will filter out problem sites. There is also a good/bad rating icon on the browser toolbar for websites you are currently on.

I like Norton but hate their support system. Norton has changed over the last few editions but it has been rated top dog so far.

Its system performance impact is something that one does notice, but it has improved over the years. recliner slipcovers.

First, to get one’s money’s worth, it is best to wait to install the product as long as possible. This is because the one-year subscription starts when the product is installed.

It offers great protection for the money. I visited a site just yesterday that was trying to run some sort of faux “security scan” script and Norton stopped it dead in its tracks. Here again, good judgment is needed, Norton’s Internet Security help with making sound judgments. This goes along with Norton’s anti-phishing, parental control management, proactive performance alerts, Norton’s insight, system wide and downloading, and identity safe.

You can have as much, or as little, control as you want. I went through the default settings after installation and the only change I made was to not delete tracking cookies. The Norton Internet Security is in my opinion the best on the market today and for the price that Amazon has it for is awesome. I ordered it and in two days I received it and installed it on my computer.

I then spent 6 hours online with their product support people in India and they seemed totally incompetent. They could not explain what they were doing or why, left the machine in worse shape than when I called them (through remote access to my computer), and then told me that they couldn’t do any more, and perhaps I should get it fixed by a computer technician. Check PC Mag if you want to read their recommendations on security software. I do not use the spam filter (I avoid MS Outlook like the plague), nor do I use the parental controls in NIS, so I can’t comment on those features.

As far as I can tell, NIS has blocked every virus exploit attempt- I have never had any issues. Also, I think the 3 user package is a great idea for the money expended. Trust me, no software should do this. As a plus, the Amazon tech people were kind and tried all sorts of ways working with me as I cried into the phone. In previous generations the software would still function, you just couldn’t get any new updates to your virus definitions, etc. But if you let your number of days count down to zero and boot up your computer the next day, Norton won’t load.

The product has some features I did not expect, like a map of where particular viruses are predominate in certain parts of the globe. I was out of the country when my last subscription expired. I bought it from Amazon for half what Norton wants and considerably less than even Walmart. It’s low maintenance, does what it’s supposed to do, no problems.

However it is worth having when you need it to remove a virus, but that is it. It takes up too much resources and it slows the computer down too much to use and have running in the background on a regular basis. I feel like my computer is very safe with it. It’s very user friendly.

It checks everything you download so you know beforehand if the file or program is safe. It also can tell you if a website you are visiting is safe or not. I really like this product because it keeps track of all my log-ins and does all the scans automatically in the background. Norton has made large improvements over the last few years to cover much more than just antivirus.

The delivery from Amazon was very fast. I have used Norton for years but found this CD difficult to install. I chose expedited shipping for this product and I received it on the same day my subscription expired. I’ve been using Norton for years and I’m satisfied with its performance. I’ll have to pay for the servicing and spend a couple weeks reloading applications and data. I would think twice before loading NIS onto a Windows XP system. Thank heaven he didn’t go after my bank and brokerage accounts. He also did something to Norton Internet Security and it would not run.

I’m so happy with this product. Since my subscription is up in two weeks, I’m going to upgrade to the 360.

It’s very tiring buying software that basically exists to keep your operating system working the way it should do straight out of the box anyway. It is dead money.

What a shame, as I wanted to really like this way overhyped software from the beginning. Norton needs to go back to the drawing board.

The other system is being spammed constantly from Norton to renew (I mean constantly). CHEAP ACOUSTIC GUITAR.
