Security Experts Cite Need for Major Policy Changes to Protect Global Security in Report to NATO and the European Union

New report by the Security & Defence Agenda, compiled in collaboration with IBM, presents recommendations on security challenges from global on-line brainstorming session BRUSSELS, - The Security & Defence Agenda (SDA) and IBM ( NYSE: IBM ) today announced the key findings from the first ever Security Jam, a global on-line brainstorming session on the challenges facing global security. The new SDA report to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and European Union (EU) outlines 10 recommendations from the February Security Jam, which brought together nearly 4,000 military, diplomatic and civilian experts from 124 countries during a five-day period to discuss topics ranging from crisis preparedness and human rights to environmental security and rising world powers. Global aerospace & defense industry expects steady growth in 2010

Paris — There are positive signs for the global aerospace and defense (A&D) industry in 2010 according to a new report by the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) global Manufacturing industry, Compass 2010 — Global aerospace & defense sector outlook. Orders for new commercial aircraft are projected to rebound in 2010 to over 800 units, reversing the steep decline experienced in 2009. Likewise, orders for business jets are showing signs of improvement, and new requirements for innovative technologies in cybersecurity, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, remotely piloted vehicles, and data fusion are expected to drive demand for defense companies.

Secretary Napolitano Announces Rule Proposing Permanent Global Entry Program

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano today announced the publication of new proposed rule that would establish Global Entry—a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) voluntary initiative that streamlines the international arrivals and admission process at airports for trusted travelers through biometric identification—as a permanent program. 'Global Entry expedites the customs and security process for trusted air travelers through biometric identification while helping DHS ensure the safety of all airline passengers,' said Secretary Napolitano.
