How to plead for non-guilty in court?

Question by flgyhdfl: How to plead for non-guilty in court?
I recently got involved in a Car Accident. I was yielding and turning left on green light and the person coming straight speed-ed up which led to collision. I was found at fault by the policeman. “There were no personal injuries”. But there was damage to car.

There is a huge construction in that area and thus it is almost impossible to yield to other side.

I want to plead for non-guilty, any points that I could put before the judge. Please give me suggestions.

If you’re asking how to enter your plea, appear on the court date, listen to instructions. When your name is called and they ask how you plea, answer “Not guilty.”

Police don’t set fault. Police make reports based on fact. If you are looking for ways to convince the judge you aren’t guilty, there are none really. The person turning left must not turn until the way is clear. If a car hits you, that’s a pretty good indication the way was not clear. If there was construction that merely meant you had to be more diligent. I doubt you will prevail with your not guilty plea under the circumstances.

What a Criminal Attorney Does In And Out of Court

A criminal attorney is a type of lawyer who defends individuals accused of a crime. There are many different areas of law practice including family and domestic, divorce, real estate, foreclosure, personal injury, business, bankruptcy, and taxes. There are also some attorneys that have general practices. They are similar to a family doctor in that they take care of nearly everything. When something is beyond their experience or expertise level, they refer it to a more specialized professional. When a person has been accused of a crime, this is a serious situation that requires the savvy of a seasoned professional.

Most people think the extent of a legal representative’s involvement is only in court in their clients’ trials. While this is one part of their job duties, it’s only a fraction. Outside of the courtroom, these professionals spend hours meeting with clients, witnesses, partners, and associates. They do hours of research in order to come up with ways to defend their clients. Private detectives are often involved in going over all evidence and testimony with a fine-toothed comb. There are stacks of books to read in order to learn about past cases along with the outcomes and verdicts.

Those that practice law must have excellent memories, be good readers, writers, and speakers. In fact, their language skills and finesse must be exemplary. In addition to this portion of the brain being highly developed, attorneys must also have a gift for logic and putting pieces of a puzzle together. They must stay on top of the ever-changing legal system’s rules and regulations. They must be assertive, strong, and confident, yet get along well with others. Dealing with jurors, witnesses, police officers, judges, and clients takes a well-developed repertoire of social skills. Legal eagles also must have good intuition and deductive reasoning. Going by one’s gut instincts is often necessary to get on the right track to solve a case.

A criminal attorney will represent clients who may have been accused of an array of crime including burglary, white collar crimes, identity theft, murder, assault, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and many more. These professionals undergo lengthy training in order to become experts in their field. To become an attorney, an individual must finish high school and four years of college before even applying to law school. It takes determination, good grades, and grit to become admitted, followed by perseverance and excellent test taking skills to make it through. After completing the graduate program, an individual must pass the bar exams in order to be able to legally practice and hang one’s shingle up.

When an individual has been accused of a crime such as burglary, a white collar offense, identity theft, assault, or murder, it is crucial that he or she hire a savvy criminal attorney as soon as possible. If a person can’t afford to hire one, the judge will appoint a court ordered defense lawyer to represent him or her. In America, every citizen has the right to a legal defender whether he or she has money to pay for one or not.
