Can you imagine what it would be like to live fifty, or even twenty years ago? No cell phones, not much on TV (if you could afford a TV) and the worse thing would be no Internet. When you stop and imagine how much we use the Internet on a daily basis, it is staggering. One thing that is always a problem, however, is the existence of the computer virus.

These horrible little things can pretend to be many different things, and find many ingenious ways to infect your computer and destroy all that you hold near and dear to you. At first, they had to spread slowly, moving from machine to machine through floppy disk. But when the Internet came into play, viruses made the next leap in evolution.

Usually they come into your computer hidden within another program, often times downloaded on purpose. These are called Trojan horses, after the famous horse that the Greeks used to sack the city of Troy. Other times they come as self extracting files that get into your email.

Some viruses are meant to harm, while others are meant only to collect data. These programs are called adware. While they don’t do any actual harm, by erasing information on your hard drive, for example, but they can severally clog up your system, making it run incredibly slow.

There is a new form of malicious software out there that is going by the name ms antispyware. This software tricks you into downloading it, and then searches your computer for bad software. Then it finds some, but you have to pay for the full version in order to fully remove them. The only problem is that they are all fake. Put there by the software itself, to better convince you to spend your money.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways to quickly and easily get rid of this particular software, and any others on your computer that may have snuck in there to do you harm.
