Can my address be used to commit identity theft/fraud etc?
trickbaby1210 asked:
I’ve given my address to someone in a foreign country so they can send me a present. Its suddenly struck me that maybe they could use my address to commit fraud? am i being paranoid?
I’ve known them for over a year in a virtual sense. Its somebody I work with. Obviously they know my name and my date of birth. thank you for your advice!

do you know this person? usually not unless they have the rest of your personal information
unless they have other critical info about you it is probably not too big an issue…but if they have all ready gotten other info, they would not have needed your address as they would have all ready had it. As asked above…do you know this person, or business? Only give info to those you know or trust to be legitimate.
That is a common scam. With your name and address they can get your phone number and then with a little effort you are their mule. You start getting bills for stuff you didn’t order and so on. It is not totally damaging, but is annoying.
