Anyone used vehicle warranty protection that comes in the mail from Consumer Protection Service in DC?

I received a postcard in the mail just days before my coverage ended with an ID number and phone number to call. I called and got the quote, but can’t find anything on the company offering the coverage “Consumer Protection Services”. Anyone else have a similar experience? If so can you share what you have found out? Thanks…

OK, these after market vehicle warranties are only as good as the company that backs them up. They are NOT guaranteed by anyone except Consumer Protection. Typically, these guys write as much business as they can in six months or so, pay a few claims, and go out of business when the REAL claims start coming in, leaving everyone who’s purchased these warranties completely out of luck.
Sometimes it pays. But it’s DEFINATELY a “buyer beware” situaion.
I received the same postcard from the same company.
Sent bulk-mail with a 1-800 number to call.
$317/yr for 5 yr = $1585.
Only covers the powertrain.
How much can a new powertrain cost?
Seems like a lot of money for a 10 year old car.
