Making Money On eBay – Don’t Give Up!

The banning of the sale of digital products on eBay has led to many online marketers abandoning the use of eBay as one of their revenue streams. Other factors to this abandoning of eBay include some policy and fee changes which were heavily opposed. However, those willing to stick with eBay are finding that it is still quite possible to make money on eBay.

For instance, while it is no longer allowed to sell digital products on eBay, smart sellers found a way around it. To get around this problem, they simply transfer one or more digital products on to a CD and DVD and mail it to customers. Doing so meant that not only could they continue to sell the products that they wanted to, but also that they could sell them for more, on the basis that physical products are perceived to be of greater value than digital ones.

To save time from having to package, label, and ship every CD or DVD you sell, the best thing to do is to use a fulfillment company. Basically, you provide them with a stock of raw materials and the customers details, as they come in at a later date, and they take care of the rest for a flat fee. The extra cost that using a fulfillment company costs can be covered by selling each product for an extra few dollars.

Turning digital products into physical ones also allows you to include various bonuses and upsells on the discs that you ship out. Adding unannounced bonuses will create value and make your customer happy. You could try sending them to a website where they could buy additional products from you. Better yet, you could send them to a squeeze page where, upon completing an opt-in form, they would enter your email list.

An alternative approach to making money on eBay is through dropshipping. Instead of keeping stock or selling something that you own, doing dropshipping will allow you to sell products which belong to someone else, kind of like affiliate marketing. Having decided upon which of the many dropshipping companies to use, the rest of the process is easy to follow through. All you need to do is create a listing on eBay for one of the dropshipper’s products and wait for it to sell. Once it does, you’ll need to submit the order to the dropshipper. The great thing about this business model is that it doesn’t cost you any money out of your pocket. You only pay the dropshipping company’s cut out of the proceeds of the sale.

You can virtually sell anything through a dropshipping company on eBay. From the latest high end gadgets, to fitness equipment, to cell phone accessories, you will be sure to find a number of products that the market is desperate to buy. Conduct a little research before you choose your products to sell though, and try to find ones that offer both good profit margins and low competition (i.e. with not many competing eBay sellers). No matter what you choose to sell, make sure you do the necessary research in order to find a reliable company to work with.
