Ugh, I hate those scams! They are playing on the potential kindness of the people they send those emails out to… but
All of them are scams.
You are very smart to be aware of the fact that they are asking you for too much info. Unfortunately, when I had this problem, the only solution was to get a new email. You can create a Yahoo email account pretty easily.
Try not to give your email address out on internet surveys and all of that, because some of them sell your email address to people that are behind the scams like this. What is the world coming to?
But yes, they ask for your social, or your home address, or your bank info, and then they rob you blind or steal your identity or hack into your email account and send out emails to all of your friends.
Creeps.

It was once calculated that 90% of all mails are spam .. so there’s nothing you can do to stop it ..
If you are using Outlook there are various ‘filers’ you can install (eg first link below), although most mail services should have some sort of built-in service side filter option = eg. for Yahoo mail, just turn on ‘spamguard’ (or whatever it’s called).. and 90%+ of all spam will go straight to the ‘trash’ folder ..
Various attempts (such as ‘Blue Frog’) have been made to ‘fight back’ but the ‘authorities’ do nothing to help and everything to hinder … as usual, the honest are persecuted and the guilty protected …)
There are a few places where you can report spam and hopefully lead to the site being taken down .. see last link
They are scams. Just delete them.
I notice that Yahoo has difficulty detecting them because there is no pattern easily identified by an automated process, so help from that source will take some time.
If you are getting these scams, then you are on a spam list and your email will soon become unworkable if you do not act soon.

Run a virus scan. Not a freebie with complimentary trojan!
Turn spam filtering on.
Create a folder for the good stuff and a filter to store it there when the email is addressed to you. If you are copied, like most spam, then it will stay in the inbox.
Look into address guard. Create another folder and filter to put stuff sent to the disposable address(es) in separate folder(s).
I use Thunderbird as my email client. This has a variety of add-ons. As a result, I can right click on a url in a message which brings up an option in the list to report a scam.
I also use Firefox with its add-ons. As a result, I have a McAfee Siteadvisor button in the status bar. It is colour coded, green for good; red for bad. Click on this button to find out what they think about the site you are viewing. If it is grey, registered users can comment on the site and prompt a review.
A common feature of the lottery scams is that they ask for personal details. You could build a filter based on the body content. Be careful as the scammers change the text frequently and include non-display characters to frustrate the filters. Also, a friend could inadvertently include the trigger text and create a false positive.
